THE PLOT
Hello. My name is Haseo. Some may know me as "The Terror of Death", but that was a long time ago.
It all started in 2014. Aura, the AI who lived in "The World", an online MMO, disappeared. She was a vital part of the game, and the sole reason the game was created. That game was known as The World R:1. But, after Aura disappeared, the game started to decay. CC Corp needed to rebuild her, and thus, The World R:2 was born.
Year 2017. I played R:2 as soon as it came out. I was PK'ed on my first day, and from that point on, I decided to become the best player in "The World". I met a group of friends along the way, and they became everything to me. But, after people started to fall into coma's, including my good friend Shino, I decided to go after the person responsible. But, I found that he wasn't like any of the other players. His name was Tri-Edge, and he was strong beyond belief, and caused anyone he attacked to fall into coma's. After eight months, I decided to join a group that worked for CC Corp in trying to track down the culprit that was corrupting the game.
It was a long journey. Eventually, through the use of epitaphs and long, strenuous battles, I was able, with the help of my friends, to restore peace to The World. Tri-Edge and another AI protecting Aura joined us. But, we didn't stick around long. Soon, The World began to lose it's popularity due to the number of players waking up in the real world and pressing charges against CC Corp. They eventually started losing all of their finances. We all thought that was going to be the end of the notorious CC Corp.
We were wrong.
Year 2020. Three years later, I heard the news. CC Corp was back on it's feet, and was going to release another version of "The World", titled "The World R:Dreamscape. As soon as I heard it, I knew that something was going to happen--again. I was right. A couple months after the game was released, it was just as popular as it had been before, especially since they added new content. But, the redesign came with more severe problems than the last game contained. People were falling into coma's again, and worse than that, some disappeared--even died.
I researched the news reports on the latest game. I found out that CC Corp was under new ownership. The new president's name was Sakaki, and the vice president was Ovan. I could understand Sakaki wanting to rise again. He was always lusting for more power, and toward the end, he became a twisted soul. I had defeated him in the game, but I had no idea he was so crazy in real life. It appeared that he was back. But, Ovan was under him now. Ovan was known for appearing and disappearing mysteriously, and even though I admired him, I realized that he had his own agenda, and always did. Back in R:2, he had become AIDA, the virus that infected the world. It seems that his mind hadn't escaped the full effect of AIDA.
Both of them had taken turns stealing away people he loved. Now, they were killing people.
Lately, there have been reports of players falling unconscious. That was nothing new for CC Corp. But now, players were disappearing. Parents have left their children playing the game, and when they returned, their child was gone, along with his virtual headset and controller. No trace of them was left. But, they were still logged into the game. They have to be somewhere, but nobody can find them.
Even worse, some have been dying when killed by an entity within the world. Back in R:2, people fell comatose when they were killed by Tri-Edge, but this time, it isn't a player. When people are in dungeons, they sometimes notice the weather acting abnormally. They can almost feel the weather, as if their bodies were there. Then, out of nowhere, a black and purple smoke fills the sky like a dark cloud. It swirls like a tornado. Eventually, the black smoke surges to the ground like lightning, piercing the player and instantly killing them. Those who have escaped have reported a figure coming out of the smoke--a very dark little girl.
Her name is Aura. She was once clad in white, with glowing silver hair. But now, she was pure black and full of darkness. She was the original AI housed inside the world. When The World was created, she was a project to make the world better. But now, she brings only destruction, and she must be stopped.
After The World ended, I promised myself I would forget about it, but now, people are in trouble again. I have to do something about it. But, I knew I needed help. So, I researched some of the players who survived previous version of the world, namely a boy named Kite, whose image Tri-Edge was based on. I found him. He has gathered his friends, and I have gathered mine. Together, we took advantage of a mass hiring opportunity at the newly revamped CC Corp. We have successfully managed to infiltrate CC Corp as staff members, and as we build up our position, we will bring the bosses down.
